JOHN DURU – MANAGING PARTNER

John is a past 1st Vice Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Branch; he graduated Bachelor of Laws (LL.B)
with Honours from the University of Nigeria in 1986. He was called to bar in 1987 and admitted to practice as a
Solicitor and Barrister of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1987. He also holds a Master of Laws degree (LL.M) in
Maritime & Commercial Law from the Lagos State University.
A Legal Practitioner with cognate experience in corporate and commercial Law practice and a highly skilled
advocate with extensive commercial legal advisory experience. He has acted on several occasions for ship
owners, charterers, shippers and marine insurers including P & I clubs. Provided advise on several aspects of
shipping law including ship arrests, cargo loss and damage, ship sale and purchase, disputes arising out of bill
of lading, charter parties, collisions, insurance and other marine related matters.
He has over the years gained vast experience in real estate matters, particularly site acquisitions for
numerous private sector operators and parastatals of government. He has also handled the management,
perfection and sale of vast real estate for corporate bodies and private persons in Nigeria.
He has also focused on Aviation, Environmental Law, Civil and Commercial Litigation and Alternate Dispute
Resolution (ADR). He has acquired considerable experience in negotiating and concluding contracts
bordering on Aviation, Shipping, operational, regulatory, support service and corporate finance business
within Nigeria and abroad.
He continues to seek new challenges in the growing field of Environmental law and practise, waste
management, industrial and marine pollution, green issues both within and outside Nigeria. He has advised
clients across the full range of environmental issues, from industrial and marine pollution waste management
and product liability to development control.

ED EMEKA KEAZOR BL FRSA, ASSOC.FRHISTS Consultant Partner

Ed is an experienced legal and historical researcher, with over three decades of experience across three jurisdictions (UK,
Canada and Nigeria). His work is uniquely at the intersection of law and history and he has authored several works on Legal, Social
and Commercial history.
Ed graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka with LLB, Law (Honours) in 1988, he was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1990 and
later received Professional training towards qualification as a Solicitor of the Law Society of England and Wales from The College
of Law London in 2001.
Ed is our leading Consultant on UK and EU Commercial Law; Employment and Labour Law and Commercial Litigation. He is an
Employment, Equity and Consumer Rights Law Specialist well versed in advising key stakeholders on statutory and policy
implications of Legislation and Government policy. And he has a keen interest in mineral resources law and taxation.
In the past, Ed has focused overtime and gained wide experience on matters relating to intellectual and industrial Property Law,
Oil and Gas and Aviation Law. He has represented clients in major litigation cases in all significant fields of law ranging from
commercial and contract disputes, patent and trademark infringements, aviation and telecommunication law.
While he was Managing Partner and Head of the Commercial Litigation Department at Asagba, Keazor and Omoigui- Attornies-atLaw, Ed’s main practice focus was advocacy before the Superior Courts of Record, acting mainly for International clients.

And as Partner of the firm Bensons Solicitors, Ed headed the Commercial Litigation department acting for a number of local and International Corporations and Individuals. His main
practice being advocacy before UK Courts and Tribunals.
In addition to his litigation, Ed has been a lecturer in Employment Law/Commercial Law with specialist focus on Corporate Governance, Compliance Legislation, Law of Trusts,
Company Law, Human Relations Law, Labour and Trade Union Legislation.
He also often conducts presentations and training on “Best Practice” for compliance with Employment, Consumer Rights and Equality statutes/policy.
Ed is a member of the International Bar Association, section on business Law and the Nigerian Bar Association, the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Canada. He
is 1st Fellow- Royal Society for Arts; Associate Fellow – Royal Historical Society; Legal History Society of Nigeria and The College of Law Merton, England, United Kingdom.
He is on several boards including the Public Legal Education Network, London, England, United Kingdom, he is Member Board Of Trustees Legal History Society of Nigeria and he has
received several Honours & awards during the life’s span of his career

YETUNDE ASIKA Associate Partner

Yetunde is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, an Alternative Dispute Resolution Mediator and a consultant in
strategy and governance. She earned a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B) Honors and a Double Master of Laws (LL.M) in
Corporate Commercial Law and Intellectual Property Law from Holborn College of Law, UK. She received professional
qualification certificates, including the LPC for Solicitors of the Law Society of England and Wales from the Inns of Court
School of Law (ICSL) UK, and The Nigerian Bar, from Lagos Nigeria. She has over 20 years experience in Legal practice.
Yetunde’s legal career began in the UK where she gained criminal, corporate and commercial practice experience from
London city firms. However through out her career Yetunde has been exposed to a broad range of advisory legal services
that cut across a wide spectrum of sectors and industries including, Public Law, Intellectual Property Law, Employment Law,
Real Estate and Property Law, Public and Private Partnership (PPP), Arbitration and Dispute Resolution; Debt Recovery,
Insolvency and Receivership; Schemes of Arrangement, Merger, Acquisition, Amalgamation and Corporate Restructuring.
Yetunde has extensive experience in Criminal Law. She was well known in the UK for handling many high profile criminal
cases. She is a skilled Criminal and Human Rights Law litigator, International Contracts, Wrongful Death and Catastrophic
Personal Injury Negotiator.
YETUNDE ASIKA Associate Partner
She is a former International Criminal Tribunal Rwanda (ICTR) Legal Practitioner for the United Nations under the ICJ in The Hague, working on high profile cases with
perpetrators of genocide in the reparations and war crimes tribunals and the most famous “Media Trail” case.
She is well known for her work with the “Justice for George Floyd” global campaign team convened by attorney for the george Floyd family Benjamin Crump. And also for the
civil society Coalition Against Race and Conflict convened by human rights attorney to the Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and Breyona Taylor families, on Behalf of African
Refugees Facing Racial Discrimination in Ukraine and Poland and also on behalf of people of African descent re “The Moroccan Border Massacre”.
Yetunde is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the Society of Black Lawyers UK, The Law Society and the Black Solicitors Network.
She was recently appointed Co-Chair Bandung Africa, she founded and chairs the Social Justice committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Section on Public Interest
and Development Law and she is the convener of the International Social Justice Movement AmendTheLaw.
Yetunde has also been an “Outstanding individual of African descent anywhere in the world” nominee to MIPAD and she is now a trusted counsellor on the MIPAD Law &
Justice selection Committee.
Yetunde sits on several boards and is trustee for several NGO’s. She has held press conferences both in Nigeria and internationally, and she has been featured as a legal op –
